MENA Newswire News Desk: The Austrian state of Styria has begun construction on what will become the largest agrivoltaic farm in the region, spanning 20 hectares with an investment of €13 million. The project is expected to generate approximately 22 million kilowatt-hours of solar energy annually, marking a significant step in Austria’s renewable energy initiatives.

Christopher Drexler, Governor of Styria, announced that the development of this agrivoltaic farm represents a key advancement in the state’s renewable energy efforts. He emphasized that the project would contribute to reducing harmful emissions while securing a sustainable energy supply for the future.

The new photovoltaic farm will be capable of providing electricity to more than 6,000 households in Graz, the capital of Styria. Designed with a dual-purpose model, the farm will not only generate solar energy but also support agricultural and livestock activities. The land will be used for farming as well as sheep grazing, maximizing the potential benefits of the project.

Austria continues to make strides toward its renewable energy goals, with the Styria agrivoltaic farm serving as a flagship initiative. This innovative project underscores the country’s commitment to clean energy production and environmental sustainability. The project is expected to reach completion within the next two years, further enhancing the region’s contribution to Austria’s renewable energy capacity. Once operational, it will significantly boost the state’s energy output, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

With ongoing global efforts to combat climate change, the construction of the agrivoltaic farm aligns with Austria’s broader objective of meeting EU climate targets. The project stands as a symbol of Austria’s commitment to promoting eco-friendly infrastructure.
